Vahagn @ Vodafone Mexe Fest

Every year, Vodafone Mexe Fest provide us the chance to chose a music route during two days in the axis of Avenida da Liberdade in Lisbon.

Here is a drawing I've made live from Vahagn

Vahagn and the Sky People is the one of the projects of the Dj Vahagn Voskerchyan.
The moods were pumped up and the room was crowded. The music sounded great, tons of groove up in the clouds.

All I felt like was forgetting about the world and life's sours and dance, just dance!
A pity the gig wasn't later and with a proper dance floor.

If the band is from the sky than Vahagn is from heaven.

Tape Junk Rolling!!

One day I had been hitchhiking in America. The sun was shinning and my heart was pumping for the next new adventure. Tobacco was cheap and the the fabric prints were like country side moving.
Met these really nice guys who drove me to a place called Fun, it was Tape Junk.

Cícero @ Vodafone Mexe Fest

Every year, Vodafone Mexe Fest provide us the chance to chose a music route during two days in the axis of Avenida da Liberdade in Lisbon.

Here is a drawing I've made live from Cícero, who was playing with Momo and WadoFred (drums) Bernardo (bass) and Alexandre Laia (guitar)

Bad Weather Forecast?
No problem, Cícero's music will not only fit perfectly as it will change your mood too.

When I saw him live, I imagined him as an enfant terrible (thought of Tom Saywer) looking for love in the striped slides of life that he undressed as soon as the room became warmer.

The interesting thing about him is how can he be so light (so I decided not to draw his body) with such melancholic stories. I guess some grey can be beautiful too.

Flak @ Vodafone Mexe Fest

Every year, Vodafone Mexe Fest provide us the chance to chose a music route during two days in the axis of Avenida da Liberdade in Lisbon.

Here is a drawing I've made live from Flak.

I envisioned this Portuguese legendary guitar player on this drawing as if he was part of a film. Framed in music!

He was playing along with Dj Rocky Marsiano aka D-Mars who played at Hotel Florida with a deluxe band: Dj Nel Assassin and the musicians Melo D (voice) and Rodrigo Amado (sax).

Savages @ Vodafone Mexe Fest

Every year, Vodafone Mexe Fest provide us the chance to chose a music route during two days in the axis of Avenida da Liberdade in Lisbon.

Here is a drawing I've made live from Savages

Full house, and Savages were ready to rock and roll!
This drawing made live is from Jehnny Beth, the lead singer. Super elegant and poetic (why I chose velvet for this drawing), but still sharp, incisive, igniter as she can be. The world can have some dark spots for sure, but very few can make it as beautiful as Savages did. I Have to say I was amazed with Fay Milton (the drummer) too,  pretty amazing. Long live girls!

Nátio Mosquito @ Vodafone Mexe Fest

Every year, Vodafone Mexe Fest provide us the chance to chose a music route during two days in the axis of Avenida da Liberdade in Lisbon.

Here is a drawing I've made live from Nátio Mosquito

I was already a fan of Nástio Mosquito and it was definitely one of the concerts I did not want to miss on this festival.

Because of the nature of this specific festival, one could jump from concert to concert the hole night, but this concert was one that caught my attention, and I stayed from the very start until the end, and I wanted more :)

Nástio Mosquito is a 360º artist: he is a singer, a music interpreter,  an actor, a visual artist, a political activist. Very elegant, in grey with droll socks, a white gleam lighted the room. He stood out. Nástio, I pictured you like a prince or a warrior that changes the world with its dance and sing through the lime fresh colors of new Angolan ideas.

The super talented João Gomes and a beautiful coir were supporting him on this that was one of my fav's of the festival.
They had swing, they had hot killer beats, great lyrics (that make you think while you dance) - and the music just bursted.

O mambo é sério Nástio, we want to see you back soon!

The Bloom Twins @ Vodafone Mexe Fest

Every year, Vodafone Mexe Fest provide us the chance to chose a music route during two days in the axis of Avenida da Liberdade in Lisbon.

Here is a drawing I've made live from The Bloom Twins

This concert took place in an amazing church I had never entered before - Igreja São Luís dos Franceses.

The Bloom sisters are twins but are not the same as they claimed in one of the songs. Was surprised by their potent voices - Music from Ukraine with love for sure!
